Your posts are doing their job (just not the job you think they should be doing).
One of the most common frustrations I hear from brokers is this: “I’m posting… but nothing is converting.”
What they mean is that they can't tie a lead back to a specific post (which is almost impossible by the way).
And when I ask how many DMS or conversations they have tried to start online the answer is usually 🦗
Conversations are a two-way street. You can't expect messages to just flood in because you're posting.
Your posts are there to create visibility, but you still have to do the work to send messages and interact with other people's content. That's how this whole "social" media thing works.
What your posts actually do
Your content:
Reminds people who you are
Reinforces what you help with
Keeps you familiar and top of mind
Builds trust quietly over time
That’s it. Posts warm the room, but they don't close the deal... you do!
Where leads actually come from
Conversions happen in conversations.
That looks like:
DMs
Emails
Phone calls
Follow-ups
Personal check-ins
In other words: 1:1 reach-out
Most brokers don’t struggle with visibility... they struggle with consistent follow-up (the same can actually be said for almost every other industry).
The simple system I recommend
Instead of hoping posts turn into leads, pair your content with intentional outreach.
Set a timer for 10–15 minutes, 2–3 times per week (daily if possible).
During that time:
Send 5 quick “just checking in” emails to past clients
Reply to story views or post engagement
Send 5 Instagram DMs
Make a few short follow-up calls
You don't have to pitch or recommend a check in on their mortgage, the goal is to just say hi! You might just be surprised at what that turns into ;)
Why this works so well
Your consistent online presence does the heavy lifting before you reach out.
So when you send a message, it doesn’t feel random... it feels familiar!
If you're posting consistently on social media, people already know:
Who you are
What you do
How you help
Because your content reminds them, and now your outreach can activate (or continue) the relationship.
The real takeaway
If your posts aren’t converting, it doesn’t mean your content is bad.
It means your content and conversations aren’t paired yet.
Visibility + personal reach-out, or in other words:
Public consistency + private conversations
That combination is where momentum actually comes from.
