Back in 2011, I worked at Dominion Lending Centres, Canada's largest mortgage company, where I helped run the marketing team as a project manager.
One question came up constantly:
"Do we have anyone who can help brokers with social media?"
At the time, having an online presence was still relatively new (on social media anyways).
Custom websites were just becoming table stakes.
Then brokers started realizing they needed to be on social media too, because that's where their clients were spending time, and being invisible online was starting to cost them business.
Social media isn't what it was in 2011, but it's still powerful, especially alongside email and the other marketing a healthy mortgage business runs on. I've worked with a lot of brokers trying a lot of different things, and after all these years, one thing has never changed:
You have to be visible somewhere. And you can't be visible everywhere.
The brokers who win aren't the ones doing everything. They're the ones consistently showing up where their clients actually are, and for most brokers, that's still social media.
Here's the catch: getting social media done and doing it yourself are two completely different things.
When I left Dominion to spend more time at home with my kids, brokers kept finding me anyway, asking for advice, asking for help.
I started doing custom social media, web, and email marketing for them. I still have some legacy clients from those days.
But custom work has a ceiling. It's expensive, it doesn't scale, and most brokers don't need a bespoke strategy. They need good content, consistently, without it eating their week.
Social media doesn't generate business the way it used to on it's own, which means the price has to make sense too. It has to be a genuine no-brainer.
That's the whole reason Mortgage Marketing Club exists: to take the content I'd been making for individual brokers and make it accessible to every Canadian broker who needs it, at a price that just makes sense.
