One of the biggest myths in social media marketing is that engagement equals impact.

    Likes. Comments. Shares.

They’re nice... but they’re not the full story.
    Especially in mortgage marketing.

Here’s what most brokers don’t realize:

The majority of your future clients engage silently before they ever reach out.

    They’re:

    • Reading your posts without liking

    • Watching your Stories without reacting

    • Skimming your emails without replying

    • Checking your profile weeks (or months) before they DM you

    They’re paying attention... just quietly.

And because you can’t see that attention, it’s easy to assume your content “isn’t working.”

That’s where a lot of people make the biggest mistake.

    They stop.

    They pause posting.
They disappear for a few weeks.
They wait until they “have something better to say.”

But here’s the danger in that:
When you stop showing up because it feels quiet, you’re often stopping right before trust compounds.

    Consistency is what tells people:

    • You’re reliable

    • You’re still in the market

    • You’re paying attention

    • You’ll still be there when they are ready

    Engagement is visible.
Trust is invisible (until it turns into a DM, an email reply, or a referral).

So if things feel quiet right now, that’s not your cue to stop.

    It’s your cue to:

    • Keep explaining

    • Keep repeating

    • Keep showing up calmly and clearly

Because the brokers who win long-term aren’t the ones chasing likes…

They’re the ones who stayed consistent when no one was clapping yet.

And that’s what actually builds momentum.
